Nigeria finishes as Africa's top performer at 2026 Commonwealth Games
Nigeria emerged as Africa's highest-performing nation at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, after finishing sixth on the overall medals table.
Team Nigeria concluded the competition with an impressive haul of 24 medals, comprising 10 gold, seven silver, and seven bronze medals. The performance also made Nigeria the only African country to secure a place in the top 10 of the final standings.
Australia dominated the Games, finishing at the top of the medals table with 65 gold, 41 silver, and 52 bronze medals. England, Canada, India, and hosts Scotland also ended the competition ahead of Nigeria.
Rounding out the top 10 were Jamaica, New Zealand, Wales, and Malaysia, highlighting the fierce competition at the multi-sport event.
