Rumour Mills: Super Falcons Forward Nears Move to Swedish Side BK Häcken

Nigeria international Joy Omewa is on the verge of joining Swedish Women’s Allsvenskan club BK Häcken, with the Super Falcons forward set to continue her career in Scandinavia following her departure from English side Nottingham Forest.

According to Swedish broadcaster SVT, Häcken have reached an agreement to sign the 23-year-old striker, who became a free agent after leaving Forest at the end of the season.

The move will see Omewa link up with fellow Nigeria international Halimatu Ayinde, who has been a key figure for Häcken since joining the Swedish club, adding another Super Falcons presence to one of Scandinavia’s leading teams.

Omewa heads to Sweden after making an immediate impact during her brief spell with Nottingham Forest. Having joined the Women’s Championship side during the January transfer window, she quickly established herself as a reliable attacking option, scoring three goals in nine league appearances.

Her performances in England are understood to have convinced Häcken to move swiftly for her signature as the club reshapes its squad ahead of the 2026–27 season.

The Gothenburg-based side have been searching for attacking reinforcements following the departure of leading scorer Felicia Schröder to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Club officials reportedly believe Omewa possesses the pace, movement and finishing ability to help fill the void while strengthening the squad for domestic and European competition.

For now, however, Omewa’s attention remains on international duty. She is part of Nigeria’s squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where the Super Falcons are aiming to reclaim the continental crown.

If completed, the transfer would mark another significant milestone in Omewa’s career and further underline the growing influence of Nigerian players across Europe’s top women’s leagues.
