The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kano State Chapter, has scheduled November 24, 2026, for the election of new executive members to lead the association.

The Chairman of the State Electoral Committee, known as SWANECO, Abdulgafar Oladimeji, announced the date during a press conference held on Wednesday at the Radio Nigeria Pyramid FM Conference Hall in Kano.

Oladimeji, who was accompanied by the two other members of the electoral committee, also unveiled the guidelines and procedures for the forthcoming election.

He explained that the electoral timetable covers the sale of nomination forms to interested candidates, the deadline for submitting completed forms, screening of aspirants and the manifesto day for candidates who successfully scale the screening exercise.

According to him, the committee is committed to conducting a credible, transparent and peaceful election in line with the provisions of the SWAN Constitution and established electoral procedures.

He urged members interested in contesting for elective positions to familiarise themselves with the guidelines and comply with all requirements and deadlines set by the committee.

SWANECO also called for cooperation among members to ensure a smooth electoral process that would promote unity and strengthen the development of sports journalism in Kano State.

The November 24 election is expected to usher in a new executive committee that will oversee the affairs of the SWAN Kano State Chapter.
