Super Falcons set for friendlies against Portugal and Ghana ahead of WAFCON 2024

Nine-time African champions, the Super Falcons of Nigeria, will open camp in Lisbon next week as they intensify preparations for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The team will take on Portugal in an international friendly before flying to Morocco for another high-profile warm-up fixture against long-time rivals, Ghana. These matches are part of a strategic build-up plan that has already seen the Falcons notch a 2–0 victory over Cameroon earlier this month in Ogun State.

The clash with the Black Queens will offer head coach Justine Madugu a vital chance to fine-tune his tactics and assess his squad’s readiness ahead of the tournament.

Nigeria has been drawn in Group B alongside Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana. The Super Falcons will kick off their WAFCON campaign on July 6 against Tunisia at the iconic Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca.
