Tobi Amusan storms into 100m hurdles final at Tokyo 2025
World record holder Tobi Amusan powered into the women’s 100m hurdles final at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, clocking 12.36s to win her semi-final.
Amusan, who made history as Nigeria’s first-ever world champion in athletics at Oregon 2022, finished ahead of the Netherlands’ Nadine Visser (12.45s), while Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska (12.53s) advanced as one of the fastest losers.
The other semi-finals produced equally strong performances. American Grace Stark took Heat 1 in 12.37s, while compatriot Masai Russell claimed Heat 3 with 12.42s. Jamaica’s defending champion Danielle Williams eased through with 12.44s, Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji matched that time, and Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas posted a season’s best 12.51s to qualify.
With the line-up set, Amusan will face Stark, Russell, Williams, Kambundji, Visser, Charlton, and Skrzyszowska in what promises to be a blockbuster final. For the Nigerian, now making her fourth straight World Championships final, another historic medal beckons as she looks to cement her legacy.
