The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a six-hour power outage across parts of Abuja on Wednesday to enable preventive maintenance on a major transformer.

The maintenance, scheduled for 10am to 4pm, will involve routine checks on a 100MVA transformer and associated switchgear at the Central Area GIS 132/33kV Transmission Substation.

TCN said the exercise will affect electricity supply to Wuse Zones 1–7, the Sheraton Hotel area, Central Business District, Utako, Jabi and adjoining areas, as the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to supply power during the period.

The company apologised for the inconvenience, saying the planned maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to improve the reliability and stability of the national transmission network.
