The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) has applauded the Federal Government’s decision to commit $538 million to the first phase of the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) programme, describing it as a decisive move toward securing the nation’s food supply.
In a statement jointly signed by Chairman Chukwudi Enekwechi and Secretary Segun Ogedengbe, TMV highlighted that the programme incorporates a youth-focused 10-year strategic plan aimed at revitalising Nigeria’s agricultural sector. According to the group, the initiative holds the potential to rejuvenate agriculture, ensure food security, and expand economic opportunities.
“The SAPZ is a flagship initiative of the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the statement read. “Its primary objectives are to make food more abundant, create jobs for Nigeria’s vibrant youth population, boost agricultural productivity, enhance rural livelihoods, and fast-track agro-industrialisation.”
TMV described the project as “a carefully designed programme” with food security and job creation at its core, noting that it simultaneously addresses two pressing national needs—feeding the population and economically engaging young people.
The group further commended the initiative’s alignment with the United Nations’ global agenda to mobilise funding and investments for transforming food systems and increasing food availability worldwide.
