The National Productivity Centre (NPC) has honoured its immediate past Director-General, Dr. Nasir Olaitan Raji-Mustapha, with a sendforth ceremony in recognition of his dedicated service to the Centre and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The event, held at the NPC headquarters conference room in Abuja, was hosted by the current Director-General, Dr. Baffa Babba Dan’Agundi, and attended by key stakeholders, including former Director-General Dr. Kashim Yunusa Akor, management staff, special guests, family, and friends.
Speakers praised Dr. Raji-Mustapha for his visionary leadership and commitment to excellence, describing him as a catalyst for change who significantly advanced the Centre’s mission during his tenure.
In his remarks, Dr. Dan’Agundi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate his predecessor, recalling his promise to organise a sendforth in honour of Dr. Raji-Mustapha when he assumed office.
“There is nothing more important than leaving a place and being told you have done well. I have built on the legacy transferred to me by you and Dr. Akor. The accolades I receive today are founded on the structures you laid,” he said.
Highlighting the importance of motivation to productivity, Dr. Dan’Agundi noted that the Centre has introduced reward systems to boost staff performance. He announced that any retiring Head of Department will henceforth receive a car as a parting gift.
Dr. Kashim Akor, who handed over to Dr. Raji-Mustapha, commended his integrity and achievements, stressing that their collective efforts have placed the NPC at the forefront of national discourse on productivity.
In his response, Dr. Raji-Mustapha expressed deep appreciation to the Centre, his colleagues, and the leadership for the honour, reaffirming his commitment to advancing Nigeria’s productivity and development even after his tenure. He urged the current DG to sustain improvements in staff welfare and finalise the Condition of Service for employees.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of a car to Dr. Raji-Mustapha by Dr. Dan’Agundi, alongside other parting gifts to retirees, including Mrs. Rosemary Omoyeme Esekhagbe and Dr. (Mrs.) Titilola Oshati. Certificates of Service and Awards of Honour were also presented.
The ceremony ended with an atmosphere of gratitude and inspiration, underscoring the enduring impact of Dr. Raji-Mustapha’s service and leadership on the Centre and national productivity goals.
