Badminton: Nigeria's Anu Opeyori secures prestigious Yonex Peter Gade Academy Scholarship
Nigeria’s top badminton star, Anuoluwapo Opeyori, has earned a prestigious scholarship to train at the renowned Yonex Peter Gade Academy in Denmark, marking another milestone in his illustrious career.
The opportunity follows Opeyori’s dominant performance at the recently concluded African Championship in Douala, Cameroon, where he clinched the men’s singles title for the fifth consecutive time. His latest triumph further cements his reputation as one of Africa’s finest badminton players.
The scholarship will grant Opeyori access to world-class coaching, cutting-edge training facilities, and elite competition, positioning him to compete at an even higher level internationally.
His sponsorship follows that of Eniola Bolaji, Nigeria’s para-badminton star, who is currently training in Spain after making history by winning a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
With this latest development, Nigeria continues to make significant strides in badminton, as its top athletes gain access to elite training programs aimed at enhancing their performances on the global stage.
