Francisca Ordega on target as Ashleigh Plumptre leads Al Ittihad to Saudi Women's Cup semifinals
Super Falcons winger Francisca Ordega found the net, while Ashleigh Plumptre marshalled the defence as captain, as Al-Ittihad cruised into the semi-finals of the Saudi Women’s Premier Challenge Cup with a dominant 6–1 victory over NEOM on Sunday.
Al-Ittihad took early control of the contest and were rewarded when Leticia Nunes broke the deadlock. Ordega then doubled the advantage in the 30th minute, finishing confidently to punish NEOM once again, having also scored against them in their previous league meeting. The Nigerian winger’s goal ensured her side went into the break with a comfortable 2–0 lead.
At the back, Plumptre led by example. Wearing the captain’s armband from the first whistle, the Super Falcons defender organised her backline superbly, limiting NEOM to few clear chances and keeping Al-Ittihad firmly in command.
Any faint hopes of a comeback were effectively extinguished moments after the restart, as an unfortunate own goal stretched the lead further. From there, Lina Boussaha took centre stage, netting a hat-trick to cap a ruthless display, with NEOM managing nothing more than a late consolation goal.
The emphatic win sealed Al-Ittihad’s second-place finish in Group B with a perfect record from two matches and booked a semi-final showdown with Al Nassr on Wednesday, 17 December 2025, at the Inaya Medical Colleges Stadium in Riyadh. The other semi-final will see six-time African Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala feature for Al Hilal against Al Ahli.
