Murjanatu Musa shines on Europe's big stage

Murjanatu Musa’s steady rise in world basketball has hit another defining milestone, as the D’Tigress center earns a place in the 2025/26 All-EuroLeague Women Second Team after a standout campaign with Basket Landes.

In a competition packed with elite talent, Musa’s name now sits comfortably among Europe’s finest alongside Jessica Shepard, Mariam Coulibaly, Gabby Williams, and Mariona Ortiz a recognition that speaks volumes of her growing influence on the court.

At just 25, Musa was a pillar for Basket Landes throughout the season, combining strength, presence, and consistency to power her side to the EuroLeague Women quarter-finals. Their journey was eventually halted by Basket Zaragoza, but not before Musa had firmly stamped her authority on the tournament.

Yet, her season is far from over.

The Nigerian star now stands on the brink of silverware, with Basket Landes set to battle ESB Villeneuve-d’Ascq in the French Women’s Basketball Cup final this Saturday an opportunity for Musa to crown her impressive campaign with a trophy.

Beyond the numbers and accolades, this recognition tells a deeper story one of growth, resilience, and a journey that began far from Europe’s bright lights, in Nigeria, where Musa first honed her craft.

However, success at club level comes with its trade-offs. Musa will be absent from D’Tigress’ upcoming preparatory fixtures against WNBA sides Los Angeles Sparks, Minnesota Lynx, and Indiana Fever as her club duties take priority.

For Nigeria, it’s a temporary setback in their build-up to the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin this September. But for Musa, it’s another chapter in a career that continues to rise, one performance at a time.
