Zambia U-17 women's team visit Moroccan Football Museum after World Cup exit
Zambia’s Under-17 Women’s National Team took a break from the disappointment of their FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup exit with a refreshing visit to the Moroccan Football Museum in Salé.
Located at the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, the museum showcases the rich history of Moroccan football, tracing its development from ancient times to modern-day milestones.
The facility houses an impressive collection of football memorabilia, including archived boots, historic trophies, match balls, medals, jerseys and other items documenting the country’s football heritage.
Visitors can also explore the museum’s Hall of Fame, which celebrates legendary figures in Moroccan football, alongside exhibitions highlighting royal support for the game, the passion of supporters and the achievements of outstanding athletes.
The collection offers visitors an opportunity to appreciate the contributions of prominent figures who have shaped Moroccan football across different generations.
For the Zambian delegation, the visit also brought a familiar connection through Abdellah Blinda, the coach associated with Morocco’s historic 1-0 victory over Zambia, whose achievement is celebrated at the museum.
Hervé Renard, who guided Zambia to the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations title, is also featured in recognition of his time as head coach of Morocco’s Atlas Lions.
Beyond its striking architectural design, the museum serves as a repository of football history, offering valuable lessons and insights for enthusiasts of the game.
Zambia’s visit came after the team concluded its campaign at the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup on Saturday, following a 1-0 defeat to France in their final Group D fixture.
The Zambian side will now turn its attention to the 2026 COSAFA tournament, scheduled to be hosted by Mozambique in December.
