FCC, Nigeria Revenue Service strengthen institutional ties to boost transparency
The Federal Character Commission (FCC) has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening institutional collaboration as part of ongoing governance reforms aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, and constitutional compliance across Nigeria’s public sector.
This position was reinforced during a high-level courtesy visit by the Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Mr. Zacch Adedeji, at the FCC headquarters in Abuja.
Speaking during the engagement, the FCC Executive Chairman, Hon. Hulayat Ayo Omidiran, emphasized that the Commission’s constitutional mandate — particularly its oversight of equitable representation across more than 700 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) — remains central to national cohesion and institutional credibility.
She noted that structured collaboration with fiscal authorities would enhance regulatory alignment, strengthen data governance, and promote systemic transparency across federal institutions.
“The Federal Character principle is not symbolic; it is foundational to balanced governance and national unity. Strategic inter-agency alignment strengthens compliance mechanisms and supports evidence-based public administration,” she stated.
In his remarks, Mr. Adedeji underscored the importance of harmonizing revenue administration with constitutional oversight institutions, stressing that coordinated federal action is critical to macroeconomic stability and inclusive development.
“Sustainable revenue generation must be anchored on governance frameworks that promote transparency, accountability, and institutional integrity,” he said.
The engagement signals a move toward closer inter-agency cooperation designed to reinforce governance standards, improve institutional efficiency, and ensure that federal operations align with constitutional principles and national development priorities.
