Flying Eagles soar past Australia in final warm up ahead of FIFA U-20 World Cup

Nigeria’s U20 team, the Flying Eagles, wrapped up their preparations for the FIFA U20 World Cup with a convincing 3-1 win over Australia on Tuesday in Santiago, Chile.

Goals from Tahir Maigana, Orseer Achihi, and Charles Agada sealed the victory for Aliyu Zubair’s side, boosting their confidence ahead of the tournament’s kick-off this weekend.

Coming off a goalless draw against hosts Chile days earlier, Nigeria looked sharper in their final tune-up at the Complejo Deportivo Ruca Mapu. Maigana opened the scoring in a tight first half before Achihi doubled the advantage. Australia pulled one back just before halftime, ensuring the contest remained alive at the break.

The Flying Eagles maintained control after the restart, dictating possession and creating chances. Substitute Charles Agada put the result beyond doubt six minutes from time, capping off a dominant display.

With the win, the Flying Eagles head into their tournament opener against Norway on September 29 in Talca in buoyant spirits, eager to make a statement on the world stage.
