Michelle Alozie joins Chicago Stars on three year deal

Super Falcons defender Michelle Alozie has completed a move to Chicago Stars FC, joining the club on a three-year deal after being traded from Houston Dash in the National Women’s Soccer League.

Chicago Stars sent $40,000 in allocation money to Houston Dash for the Nigeria international, securing her services through the 2028 NWSL season as the club continues its long-term rebuild.

Alozie began her professional career with Houston in 2021, initially arriving as a national team replacement player before earning a full roster spot. She made four appearances in her rookie season, logging 114 minutes, before growing into a more influential figure over the following campaigns.

In 2022, the defender found the net twice in 10 regular-season appearances, playing a key role as Houston reached the NWSL playoffs for the first time in their history. After signing a two-year contract extension, Alozie enjoyed a breakout 2023 season, finishing as one of the Dash’s top scorers with four goals.

Across her time in Houston, Alozie registered seven goals and two assists in 75 regular-season appearances, including 33 starts, underlining her attacking threat from defence and her consistency at the top level.

On the international stage, Alozie has become a trusted figure for Nigeria. She was part of the Super Falcons squad that lifted the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title and scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner against South Africa en route to the final. Since making her senior debut in June 2021, she has earned 26 caps, featuring at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Olympic Games.

Chicago Stars general manager Richard Feuz praised her all-round qualities, describing Alozie as “a proven player at both ends of the pitch” whose experience and leadership will be vital as the club builds towards 2026.

Alozie, meanwhile, said she was eager to embrace the next chapter of her career, adding: “I’m super excited to join Chicago Stars. There’s so much change happening here, and I’m looking forward to being part of that growth and helping Chicago reach its full potential.”
