Watford Hand Nigerian Talent Dino Obiefule Two-Year Scholarship Deal
Championship club Watford have confirmed that highly-rated Nigerian youngster Dino Obiefule has signed a two-year academy scholarship, marking another significant step in the versatile attacker's development.
The Hornets announced the signing as part of their 2026/27 academy scholarship intake, with Obiefule among ten promising youngsters rewarded for their performances in the club's youth system.
The scholarship agreement will keep the Nigerian prospect at Vicarage Road until June 30, 2028, as he continues his progression through one of England's respected youth development programmes.
Joining Obiefule in the latest intake are Tyler Clarke, Frankie Dalli, Sonny Fraser, Gameli Hoedoafia, Harrison Hudson, Erik Lipetz, Asher Neal, Rory O'Dwyer and Will Ramsey-White, all of whom have also signed two-year scholarship contracts.
The group will now continue their football education under Watford's academy coaches, with the ultimate objective of earning professional contracts and breaking into the club's first team.
Obiefule has already established himself as one of the academy's exciting young prospects.
Before joining Watford, he played an influential role in Walthamstow's triumph in the 2024 Essex Andrews Under-14 Cup, where his performances attracted widespread attention.
Born in November 2009, the 16-year-old is regarded as a versatile attacking player capable of operating across the frontline or in midfield.
Known for his pace, direct running and technical ability, Obiefule is comfortable using either foot and has earned praise for his fearless one-on-one play, creativity and relentless attacking style, qualities that have made him one of the academy's standout young talents.
The Nigerian youngster will now be aiming to emulate former Watford academy graduates Joseph Hungbo, Eddie Oshodi and Tobi Adeyemo, who successfully progressed through the club's youth ranks before making their senior debuts.
For Obiefule, the scholarship represents a major milestone and an opportunity to continue his development in a highly competitive environment as he pursues his dream of becoming the latest Nigerian player to feature for Watford's first team.
