Falconets coach, NFF officials motivate Flamingos ahead of FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup
In a show of support and mentorship, Falconets head coach Moses Aduku visited the Flamingos’ camp in Abuja on Monday, encouraging Nigeria’s U-17 girls to stay focused and uphold the nation’s proud tradition in women’s football as they prepare for the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.
Addressing the players, Aduku urged them to approach the tournament with belief, unity, and resilience. He reminded the young team that their performance on the world stage would not only define their careers but also reflect the strength of Nigerian women’s football.
“You’ve worked hard to get to this point; now go out there and make yourselves and Nigeria proud,” Aduku told the team. “Play with confidence, discipline, and the same hunger that has brought you this far.”
He also commended the coaching crew for the Flamingos’ stellar preparation, which has seen the team win all ten of their warm-up matches, scoring 44 goals without conceding.
Joining Aduku at the camp was Ameenu Mohammed, NFF Referee Assessor and Special Assistant to the NFF General Secretary, who took the players through an engaging session on the laws of the game. He emphasized the importance of understanding football’s evolving rules and maintaining discipline to avoid costly mistakes during competition.
“A good player must not only play well but also understand the rules. Knowing the laws of the game gives you an edge and helps you make better decisions on the field,” Mohammed advised.
The Flamingos are scheduled to depart Nigeria on October 8 via Royal Air Maroc, ahead of their group stage campaign in Morocco.
Nigeria will begin their World Cup journey in Group D, facing Canada on October 19, France on October 22, and Samoa on October 25.
