Nigerian football is in mourning following the death of former Nigeria Football Federation President, Ibrahim Galadima, who passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026, after a prolonged illness.

Galadima, born on February 15, 1948, was a towering figure in the administration of the game and played a defining role in shaping modern Nigerian football.

During his time as NFF President from 2002 to 2006, he oversaw key developments that strengthened the structure, organization, and global presence of the nation’s football.

His influence extended beyond the national body, as he also served as Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, where he championed initiatives that advanced sports development across different levels.

A respected statesman, Galadima was instrumental in the establishment of Kano Pillars FC, helping lay the foundation for the club’s rise as a powerhouse in domestic football. His legacy remains deeply woven into the fabric of both the club and Nigerian football at large.

His Janaza prayer is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Masallacin Waje in Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State.

Tributes have continued to pour in from across the football community, including from Kano Pillars’ leadership, with General Manager Ahmed Musa and Chairman Alhaji Ali Muhammad Umar extending heartfelt condolences to his family, the Kano State Government, and the entire football fraternity, while praying for eternal rest for the late administrator.
