Granada Complete Signing of Nigerian Striker Chinaza Okonyia

Spanish club Granada CF have officially announced the signing of highly-rated Nigerian striker Chinaza Marvellous Onouha Okonyia following his sensational 34-goal campaign with UP Plasencia.

The talented forward joins the La Liga outfit after emerging as one of the most prolific goalscorers in Spanish regional football, where his outstanding performances helped fire UP Plasencia to promotion from the Primera Extremeña.

Chinaza, born in 2005, enjoyed a remarkable breakthrough season, finishing as the league's top scorer after netting 23 goals in 23 league appearances, while also making decisive contributions in domestic cup competitions and the promotion playoffs.

The Nigerian striker ended the 2025/26 season with an impressive 34 goals in all competitions, underlining his reputation as one of the country's most exciting young attacking prospects.

His goals proved instrumental in UP Plasencia's title-winning campaign as the Cáceres-based club secured promotion to the Tercera RFEF.

In addition to his 23 league goals, Chinaza scored seven times in the Copa Extremadura and added four more goals in two promotion playoff matches, taking his overall tally to 34 goals and maintaining an exceptional scoring rate throughout the season.

His prolific form quickly attracted attention from higher-division clubs, with Granada moving decisively to secure the signature of the promising Nigerian forward.

Granada have confirmed that Chinaza will initially join the club's reserve side, where he is expected to strengthen an attack that struggled for goals during the previous campaign.

The reserve team endured a difficult season in front of goal, making the arrival of one of Spain's most prolific young strikers a significant addition as the club aims to challenge for promotion.

For Chinaza, the move represents another major step in his rapidly progressing career and offers the opportunity to continue his development within one of Spain's respected professional football structures.

The Nigerian forward will now look to replicate his remarkable goalscoring form at Granada and push for opportunities within the club's senior setup as he continues his rise in European football.
