Top female boxers set for historic Kehinde Obareh Boxing Show in Lagos
Hundreds of boxing enthusiasts are expected to gather at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, on Sunday, June 28, 2026, for the maiden edition of the Kehinde Obareh Female Boxing Show.
The event, themed "She Fights, She Wins," will showcase some of Nigeria's finest female boxing talents as they battle for honours at the Brai Ayonote Gym, with the competition scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
In a statement made available to Vital News on Friday, June 26, 2026, organizer Kehinde Joy Obareh said the tournament is designed to give back to the community, inspire and support less-privileged female boxers, and promote greater awareness and appreciation of women's boxing.
A total of 24 boxers from clubs across the country will compete in the tournament. They include Gafar Fathia (Crown B/C), Adeshina Zainab (Owonikoko B/C), Adepoju Rokibat (Shaku B/C), Adeshina Aishat (LASU B/C), Ajayi Nimotallah (Aso Rock B/C), Adeniji Aliyat (Blessed B/C), Adegboega Princess (Always B/C), Zainab Ibrahim (Segun Body B/C), Idowu Busayo (NPF B/C), Bibiloye Kabirat (Supreme B/C), Bonu Pesu (LASU B/C), Lawal Fathia (Biggest B/C), Anuoluwapo Akanni (Alwas B/C), and Kazeem Fathia (Mass Kenny).
Other competitors include Sodipe Damilola (A-King B/C), Ismail Abibat (Always B/C), Olubuade Fridaus (Oluomo B/C), Oluwafemi Oluwanifemi (Crown B/C), Sodiq Tomiwa (Tiger 2 B/C), Ejeh Peculliar (Gao Star B/C), Adebisi Adenike (Biggest B/C), Adeinka Abigael (Brightess B/C), Kareem Shukurat (Brightess B/C), and Oinkansola Kehinde (Morgan B/C).
Obareh, the brain behind the competition, began her boxing career at the age of 15 in Ketu, Lagos, and has grown into one of Nigeria's most accomplished female fighters. Throughout her career, she has represented the country at numerous national and international boxing and kickboxing championships, winning several medals, awards, and recognitions while earning a place among the world's top-ranked female boxers.
An alumna of Apolo Grammar School and Ebenezer Noble Comprehensive College, Obareh recently completed an Advanced Diploma in Boxing Coaching and obtained a Bronze Coaching Certificate in the United States.
She is currently studying Business Administration at Southern New Hampshire University, USA. With more than 100 fights to her name, Obareh has built an impressive career competing in boxing tournaments both within Nigeria and internationally.
The inaugural Kehinde Obareh Female Boxing Show is expected to provide a platform for emerging female talents while strengthening the development and visibility of women's boxing in Nigeria.
