2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 32 fixtures confirmed as knockout stage begins
The FIFA U-20 World Cup enters a new chapter as the inaugural 32-team Round of 32 knockout stage gets underway on Sunday, June 28.
The expanded 48-team tournament has introduced a first-ever 32-team single-elimination phase, featuring the top two teams from each of the 12 groups and the eight best third-placed finishers.
A total of 16 knockout matches will be played between June 28 and July 4 across venues in the United States, Canada and Mexico, with teams battling for places in the Round of 16.
South Africa and Canada will kick off the knockout stage at Los Angeles Stadium in Inglewood, California, on Sunday.
Brazil will take on Japan on Monday before Germany face Paraguay and the Netherlands meet Morocco in the early hours of Tuesday. France will then square off against Sweden later that day.
Wednesday's action features Côte d'Ivoire against Norway, while hosts Mexico face Ecuador. Portugal will also take on Croatia.
On Thursday, the United States will battle Bosnia and Herzegovina before Belgium meet Senegal. Spain will conclude the day's fixtures against Austria.
Friday's schedule sees England play DR Congo before Switzerland face Algeria. Defending champions Argentina will then take on tournament debutants Cape Verde.
The Round of 32 concludes on Saturday with Colombia facing Ghana before Australia clash with Egypt.
