Christian Nwachukwu fires Sabah Baku into historic Champions League group stage

 

 

Former Golden Eaglets winger Christian Nwachukwu played a starring role as Azerbaijani club Sabah Baku secured a historic place in the UEFA Champions League group stage for the first time.

 

The 20 year old Nigerian sparked Sabah’s remarkable comeback against Hapoel Be’er Sheva, scoring the equaliser in the 38th minute to revive the home side after they had fallen behind in the tie.

 

Nwachukwu’s goal proved to be the turning point as Sabah produced a stunning 5-2 victory on the night to overturn their 2-1 first-leg deficit in Israel and advance 6-4 on aggregate.

 

The exciting winger, who has previously featured in Bulgaria, Turkey and England, has continued to make an impression since moving to Azerbaijan, with his latest performance coming on a historic night for Sabah.

 

His contribution helped Sabah Baku reach the Champions League group stage for the first time, marking a significant milestone in the club’s history and another notable achievement in Nwachukwu’s developing career.
