Ayo Omidiran set to become SWAN's maiden matron
The Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hon. Ayo Omidiran, is set to be decorated as the maiden Matron of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).
Omidiran will receive the honour during the 2026 SWAN Triennial National Delegates Congress, scheduled to take place in Kaduna this week.
The recognition is in appreciation of her outstanding contributions to sports development and her efforts toward creating opportunities for young talents across the country.
Omidiran is widely associated with the Girls Play Sports initiative, which has provided a platform for young girls to discover and develop their sporting talents.
Before her appointment as Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, sports development remained a major part of Omidiran’s career. She served in various capacities and participated in several committees focused on advancing sports in Nigeria.
The SWAN honour is expected to further recognise her long-standing commitment to sports development and youth empowerment.
